Devatā Saṃyutta

Saṃyutta Nikāya 1 of 56

Translated by: Bhikkhu Sujato
Read by: Roland Kitchen

Description

In Buddhism Devās are elevated beings, living in bliss as a result of favourable actions performed in the human realm. They with few exceptions still suffer from bondage to desire and delusion just as human beings do and are in need of guidance from the Budhha. They sometimes come to the Buddha to recite verses of praise to him, sometimes to ask questions, sometimes to obtain instruction and sometimes to confirm their views or challenge his views.
